HowzYer?

Thursday, Jun, 21 2012

Monday means "Howz Yer Weekend?" on the PhilCast. We'll chat about our weekends in the first hour of the show.
You can call in live at 281-1150 or 1-866-887-1150 or just post some details up at the PhilCast Facebook fan page by CLICKING HERE.

Also, congrats go out to Katherine Ann Gorman, Miss LaCrosse Octoberfest from Onalaska (isn't that who Reggie the Producer picked to win? Oh no....there'll be no living with him if I have remembered right about that). I know for sure that my pick made the top finalists at least.

Two tech things got under my skin over the weekend, and I'll discuss both. Talk to you Monday afternoon.

Dogzilla?

Friday, Jun, 15 2012

Now anyone who is a regular listener of mine knows that I love a good hot dog.

There is lots of buzz about this new monster dog coming to Summerfest in a couple of weeks.

They're even running a contest to name the beast. One of the names being kicked around is Dogzilla, which brought back memories for me because many years ago while broadcasting at the Wisconsin State Fair I remember a certain giant corn dog on a stick that Bill Michaels and Mark Reardon brought back to the booth.

Yup, the thing was huge and we dubbed it Dogzilla back then. I wish I still had the picture we took of the three of us with that thing. Needless to say there were some laughs on the air over that one.

Now knowing that I love a good dog, you might find my review of this thing a bit surprising when I talk about it this afternoon on the PhilCast.

I'll also have my review of Dallas last night on TV.

And Lips LaBelle has some interesting news about Charlie Sheen's new TV show when Lips drops by with his Hollywood news and gossip today.

Hump Day

Friday, Jun, 15 2012

Happy Hump Day.
What are these two women accused of doing on a golf course?

I'll have the answer to that in the PhilCast "Last" segment of the show today.

Also, Graceland marks 30 years and I'll have some Elvis playing while we discuss.

The ban of the big gulp drinks in NYC has taken another step toward reality at the same time that Burger King introduces a bacon sundae. Ironic.

Huge news from the Tour de France, where a favorite and former winner is OUT of the competition that begins in just a couple of weeks. I'll have a TdF update and reminder about the up-coming "Pick the Podium" contest we always do in the month of July.

And how did my very first experience with Craig's list go down last night? Gotta listen this afternoon!

You go girl

Tuesday, Jun, 12 2012

Elizabeth Kramer.
What? Never heard of her?
Then you better catch the podcast version of the Monday PhilCast because you'll know then that she is my pick to win it all at the Miss Wisconsin pageant this weekend.

Yes, by using a highly-scientific methodology known as what I call my 'mad skills at calling pageants' I have determined that Elizabeth here should win it all.

Various competitions are taking place during the week, including talent, questions, swimsuits and evening gowns.

Then Saturday night it's for real in front of the audience and judges.

Don't forget that our current Miss America is a Miss Wisconsin, so our winners have gone on to great things.
I am not sure what it is about these shows, but when one comes on TV I watch it. That's why I wish the state's version was on TV. It used to be on public TV back in the day.

And how about adding an eating competition to the contest? On this day of the big 'brat summit' in Madison I could totally see a Miss Wisconsin brat-eating challenge as part of Saturday night's competition. Now that would be some good TV!
