A Republican lawmaker from Green Bay says automation is on the rise and northeast Wisconsin has the opportunity to lead the way in that technology.
Congressman Mike Gallagher toured Werner Electric in Grand Chute yesterday. He also talked with local business leaders.
Gallagher says automation is good news for the job market. He says many people think automation destroys jobs, but he says it doesn’t. He says it creates an opportunity for higher-skilled, better-paying jobs. He says there’s a need for engineers to design the machines, electricians to service them, and many other jobs that require degrees.
Gallagher says manufacturing is the lifeblood of northeast Wisconsin and they want to make sure the area continues to lead the way in that field.
