The town of Freedom board is giving the Outagamie County Sheriff’s department the go-ahead to put together a contract to take over police services.
Sheriff Clint Kriewaldt describes what they may provide. He says they would have a full-time officer that would work in the afternoons, and another officer that would serve as a school resource officer.
He says that officer would be on patrol when school isn’t in session or during summer.
He believes Freedom is the only school district in the county that does not have a school resource officer.
Kriewaldt thinks the savings to the town would be about $116,000.
Kriewald notes the county already handles 75 percent of the town’s police calls.
