A Green Bay woman is safe after being held captive in the Dominican Republic since October.
Brown County 911 supervisor Tracy Ertl says the woman called the non-emergency line on Sunday afternoon after she escaped and ran to a market in a village near Santo Domingo.
Ertl says she got Green Bay police involved and together they got the woman to describe her surroundings.
They used Google Earth to help track her location.
Ertl called the U.S. Embassy for help and hours later the woman was rescued.
Ertl tells our partners at Action Two News that the woman went to the Dominican Republic to see a man she met on line and stay for a week.
But the woman says she was held against her will and not allowed to leave.
