The local Hmong community hasn’t heard any updates on the potential that some refugees could be deported.
There were reports a couple of weeks ago that the Trump administration is negotiating with officials in Laos.
Democratic Rep. Amanda Stuck of Appleton says it’s really up to federal lawmakers to push the Trump administration, and pass federal laws, if necessary. She says locally, there’s a movement to provide resources, so people know they aren’t alone.
The Hmong-American Partnership is hosting a community forum at the group’s Appleton office, at 1 p.m. Sunday. Organizers will have an immigration attorney there, and stakeholders will also answer questions.
