An evening storm knocked out power and caused minor damage in Outagamie and Winnebago counties.
We Energies had more than 22,000 customers without power at 10:30 p.m. Most of the outages were in the Fox Valley and the southeast part of the state. In Outagamie County 3,776 were without power, that includes 2,429 in Appleton. Wisconsin Public Service says power was knocked out for 1,884 in Oshkosh…and 4,834 hundred in Green Bay.
The National Weather Service reported a 53 mile per hour wind gust in Appleton. Two homes were damaged in Chilton when trees that fell brought down power lines on top of them. Quarter size hail was reported on the north side of Oshkosh.
The massive American flag at the Acuity Insurance building in Sheboygan was damaged and had to be taken down. The company calls the 70 x 140 foot flag the “worlds largest free-flying American flag”.
