A fund through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region will provide almost $2.4 million in grants to projects and organizations.
David and Rita Nelson left behind more than $100 million to start a fund in the family’s name, two years ago.
Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region President Curt Detjen says this year’s grants are more focused on museums and historical projects.
The Outagamie County Historical Society is getting $600,000 to create a new exhibit on the Fox Valley, at the History Museum at the Castle. The City of Appleton is receiving $500,000 for a trestle bridge project, connecting Trolley Square and the Atlas mill.
Other grants will support caregivers of people with memory loss, and a child advocate program.
