A Winnebago County jury found a Neenah man guilty on all four counts for a deadly boat crash on Lake Winnebago.
Brian Sullivan was convicted of two charges of homicide by drunk boating, and two charges of boating with a blood-alcohol level of higher than 0.08.
The crash took the lives of two sisters, 26-year-old Lauren Laabs and 20-year-old Cassandra Laabs. They were with their parents two years ago, and were thrown from their boat.
Sullivan’s blood wasn’t drawn until 3-1/2 hours after the crash, and jurors determined he was over the legal limit of 0.08 at the time of the collision.
A state forensic toxicologist testified that Sullivan was likely over the legal limit. A defense expert believed he was around 0.07.
The trial lasted for five days. The jury deliberated for about 10 hours before reaching the verdicts.
Judge Scott Woldt is scheduled to sentence Sullivan on December 9th.
