U-W Oshkosh will open the fall semester with one of the largest first-year classes in decades. The university is welcoming 1,722 newcomers this month. that is up 24-percent from last year’s number of 1,388. Chancellor Andrew Leavitt thinks waiving application fees and dropping some testing requirements for freshman led to the larger class.
