In addition to math, English and science, Wisconsin school students may have to take courses in proper interactions with police officers. State Representative Dave Murphy of Greenville plans to introduce a bill this week directing Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction to develop a model curriculum. It would be taught to students in grades 5-through-12.
School officials could adopt a resolution opting out of the curriculum. Murphy, however, believes that would be counter productive.
Murphy’s bill is part of a package of bills to support law enforcement agencies in attracting candidates for law enforcement careers and retaining current officers.
