April 15, 2022
Dear YMCA Members,
I am writing to inform you today, that I am announcing my retirement as the President / CEO of the YMCA of the Fox Cities effective November 2, 2022.
November 1st will mark my 15th year in my current role, and it has truly been my privilege to serve in this capacity over this time period. It has been my greatest honor to serve the YMCA movement for the last 38 years. From my first job as a “Y’s Way to Fitness” instructor at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA in 1984 to my 28 years here in the Fox Cities, I have always been amazed and inspired by our ability to enhance lives. I continue to be grateful for the amazing gift I was given by our Board of Directors when I became your President / CEO. Their trust, confidence, support, and belief in me, and the potential of our YMCA to expand the reach, depth, and breadth of our service throughout the Fox Cities, are truly the highlights of my career.
I am humbled to have served as CEO of this organization and I continue to be inspired by the support of our members during and as we emerge from the pandemic.
All of our members have played a meaningful and impactful part in my journey. The YMCA is an institution that has never been and never will be about one person. Our YMCA has always focused on “we” before “me” and that will not change. For me personally, our mission is a light that will never be extinguished.
My commitment to our membership is that I will continue to work diligently over the next 6 months to fulfill the promise of our mission and assist our Search Committee in a smooth transition and onboarding process for our new CEO.
Please know that I will forever treasure my time at the Y and I will never forget the journey we took together in service to the YMCA and our community.
All the very best,
William R. Breider III
President / CEO
