
APPLETON, Wis. — Appleton Police have a man in custody who fired shots from the roof of an east-side church.
Police got a report around 10 a.m. Thursday of an armed man at St. Bernadette Parish. James Cooper reportedly fired two shots from the roof.
There were about a dozen people still inside the church. Officers were able to get to them while negotiating with Cooper. No one was hurt.
Johnston Elementary School and Appleton East High School had been placed on lockdown as a precaution.
