GREEN BAY and KAUKAUNA, Wis. — A Green Bay home sustains heavy fireworks-related damage late Sunday night.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to a reported fire on a fence that was spreading toward a home at the corner of Dousman and Platten streets.
When firefighters arrived, flames had spread to the house and were coming through the roof. Fire crews had the blaze under control within 10 minutes.
The home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage. All six people in the home evacuated before fire crews arrived and have been displaced by the fire.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department Fire Marshall says the fire was caused by improperly disposed fireworks.
Improper use and disposal of fireworks are suspected of causing a weekend fire in Kaukauna.
The Kaukauna Fire Department was called to a residence at 50 Eagles Court Sunday evening for a reported roof fire.
The blaze was spotted by a neighbor who called 911 and extinguished part of the fire before fire crews arrived to put out the remaining flames.
No one was injured, though the blaze caused an estimated $20,000 to the rubber roof.
An investigation found the fire was caused by a spent firework.
