NEENAH, Wis–The Neenah Common Council will require a three-quarters super-majority tonight (Wednesday) to approve a zoning change for the Shattuck Middle School property.
Neighbors opposed to construction of apartments and townhouses on the two blocks of Elm Street initially turned in petitions that would require the super-majority vote on Monday–but City Attorney David Rashid informed the group that the petitions did not meet the standards required by city ordinance or state statute and rejected them.
The neighbors filed new petitions–and Rashid says those do meet the standard for requiring the super-majority. Northpointe Development of Oshkosh plans to convert the existing school building into apartment units after it closes this spring.
