WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. — A 56-year-old Illinois man drowns after he and his ATV plunge into open water on Lake Poygan.
The Winnebago County Sherrif’s Office received a call for assistance around 1:20 p.m. Saturday near Noffke’s Landing on County Highway B. Members of the victim’s family told deputies the man had gone fishing and taken an ATV out on Lake Poygan.
Department of Natural Resources conservation officers and multiple local fire departments began searching with ATVs, airboats and a drone unit. The victim’s body was located near Captain’s Cove in open water.
The man’s name was not released.
