OSHKOSH, Wis. — The state Department of Justice is investigating a scam targeting grocery stores in the Fox Valley.
Four men have been using the “quick change scam” to steal money from Festival Foods in Oshkosh, Neenah and Appleton last month.
A quick change scam involves a person using a large bill to purchase an inexpensive item — confusing the cashier with several cash exchanges — and making off with more money than the initially used.
They are believed to be driving a white Chrysler Pacifica minivan with temporary plates from CarMax.
