OSHKOSH, Wis–A Winnebago County judge previously suspended by the state Supreme Court for his actions on the bench is facing another formal complaint. Judge Scott Woldt is accused of threatening defense attorneys that endorsed his opponent in the last election.
A complaint filed by Oshkosh attorney Matthew Goldin with the Wisconsin Judicial Commission claims he was in attendance with Judge Woldt at a social function at an Oshkosh tavern on April 25th, when Woldt accosted him about backing challenger Lakesha Haase in last month’s election.

Goldin quotes Woldt as saying “he was dead to him” and intimated that he would take out his “anger and fury” on Goldin and his clients. Woldt also allegedly asked for the $28,000 he spent on his campaign from Goldin and “we’d be square”.
Two other public defenders in Oshkosh sign onto the complaint and corroborate Goldin’s account. Usually, complaints to the Judicial Commission are not released to the public–but this one is included in a motion to have Judge Woldt recuse himself from a criminal traffic case involving a client of Goldin.
Woldt was suspended for a week without pay by the state Supreme Court in 2021 for showing a gun to students in his courtroom and denigrating a sexual assault victim.
