GREEN BAY. WI — Charges are filed against a Green Bay pastor accused of exchanging sexually explicit photos online with a child in Venezuala. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says Cory Herthel, 40, who served as a staff member of a Seventh Day Adventist congregation, met the boy while doing missionary work. Investigators say Herthel allegedly encouraged the boy to send explicit videos of himself to Herthel in exchange for cash payments. Herthel also allegedly sent the child sexually explicit images of himself. He’s now charged with attempted production of child pornography and the transfer of obscene material to a child. If convicted, Herthel faces between 15 and 30 years in prison on the attempted production of child pornogrpahy charge. Conviction of the transfer of obscene materials charge carries a ten year prison term. Conviction on either charge would require Herthel to register as a sexual offender.
