HOWARD, Wis–Investigators believe an attempted ATM theft at a Howard bank is the work of a nationwide gang. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says it received an alarm trip from the Nicolet Bank A-T-M on Duck Creek Parkway shortly after 1:30 this (Tuesday) morning.
Officers found the ATM damaged and spotted two vehicles of interest on surveillance footage. One of the vehicles was later found, and the driver was taken into custody. Officers are searching for the occupants of the other vehicle after finding it abandoned.
The sheriff’s office believes the incident is related to the Hook and Chain Gang, which has been hitting A-T-M’s across the country.
