MANITOWOC, Wis. — Convicted murderer Steven Avery will appeal the latest rejection of his call for a new trial.
The Sheboygan County judge assigned to the case ruled that Avery’s claims of new evidence and eyewitness statements did not meet the legal burden to reopen his case.
Avery argues that investigators talked to a man who said he had seen another member of Avery’s family with Teresa Halbach’s SUV on the day of her murder in 2005. His attorney, Kathleen Zellner, took to social media on Thursday to state that she has filed a notice of appeal.
Notice of Appeal filed. No matter how long Wisconsin keeps dodging the TRUTH we will outlast them. That is a promise! #TruthWins @MakingAMurderer @JButing
