One would think, in the era of countless 24-hour news networks, that it would be darn near impossible for a Presidential candidate to not have their moment in the spotlight to showcase their campaign platform. Unfortunately, it seems as though within the DNC, that happens to be the case.
Presidential nominee Marianne Williamson is taking her second bite at the apple in an attempt to win the Democratic nomination, but based on “traditional” media’s coverage, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t know it.
America is at a very pivotal moment in its history, and in my opinion, fresh, new ideas are going to be necessary to address the economic and societal issues facing all generations.
What we have is a system, comprised of corporations, mainstream media networks, and establishment politicians that seem to work as hard as they can to make sure new ideas remain hidden. One popular morning show went as far as to say “New Hampshire is interesting. You don’t have a Democratic race”, which objectively, is demonstrably false.
Marianne went on to explain why she believed MSNBS’s Joe Scarborough had been so dismissive of her campaign during his show, “He is simply choosing a narrative that suits his ‘club’. What they are saying is no one is running against him that we like. No one is running against him that’s one of us…We’re not going to let the riff-raff in, and their idea of the riff-raff is anyone who challenges the corporatist governance of this country.”
She believes that, regardless of who wins the nomination, the constant push for change from all fronts is necessary, if we’re going to create an America for every single one of its citizens.
“The way I see progressivism in general, whether you have a podcast, radio show, write a book, head a non-profit, etc, each of us in our own way is leaning against the wall…We won’t really be there until we have a president… that is willing to make the changes on that level.”
I might be repeating myself from the last time we had a Democratic challenger on this show when I say this , but I’m not sure where this campaign is going to lead, but I do know that in order to move this country forward, we’re going to need somebody with new ideas, a willingness to enact change, and a sense of community, if we’re going to lead this country into the future.
One thing’s for sure, I’ll be interested to see how the next couple of months play out.
