APPLETON, Wis. — One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Appleton.
The state Department of Justice says police were called to Maritime Tavern on W. Wisconsin Avenue shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on the report of shots fired inside.
When officers arrived, they were confronted by a person who fired at them. One officer returned fire and struck the individual.
Life-saving measures were performed, however the suspect was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
No officers were hurt.
The DOJ is continuing to investigate the incident.
