GREEN BAY, Wis. — The state Department of Justice releases the names of those involved in a police shooting in Green Bay last month.
Officers were called to the 3100 block of Open Gate Trail Feb. 23 on a weapons complaint.
A suspect, Steve Ventura, fired a gun, leading to a shootout with Officer Dan Skenandore.
Ventura was struck and died at the hospital. Skenandore, who has 6.5 years of law enforcement experience, was not hurt. He was placed on administrative leave, which is standard policy.
The incident remains under investigation.
