APPLETON, Wis. — In 2023 more than 500 students were considered homeless in the Appleton Area School District.
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act defines homeless children and youths as those who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.
Julie Bargholtz, Coordinator of Family and Community Engagement with AASD and Molly McGregor, who is an AASD social worker for our foster and homeless population joined Hayley Tenpas during Focus Fox Valley to speak to the issue and share how the community can support students experiencing homelessness.
