APPLETON, Wis. — A new inclusive playground is unveiled at Highlands Elementary School in Appleton.
The playground contains equipment for students with varying disabilities and is available to all students in the Appleton Area School District. It includes wheelchair-accessible play structures, activity/sensory panels and swings for children who have difficulty sitting upright.
Dana Coenen is the co-director of the Highlands and Odyssey Magnet School Fun Run, which helped raise funds for the project. She says the new equipment was desperately needed…
