APPLETON, Wis. — Today (Wednesday) marks five years since the death of Appleton firefighter Mitch Lundgaard.
In 2019 Lundgaard was shot and killed by a man he helped revive from a drug overdose at the downtown transit center.
Lundgaard’s widow, Lindsey Lundgaard-Lindberg, says the past five years have been a roller coaster of emotions for the family, but they are focused on moving forward.
“We just really tried to focus on the positvies and moving forward as much as we possibly can. That’s the way we are as a family. That’s the way I am. That’s the way Mitch was,” Lundgaard-Lindberg shared. “We’re not going to sit and dwell on this. We’re going to honor and remember him and bring him with us as we move forward.”
The Lundgaard family is inviting the public to help remember Mitch this week.
