Dave Edwards and It’s Just my Take
The Missing link
6-13-24
Look at what Jrue Holiday meant to the Bucks, and look at what he’s doing for Boston. The missing link? I think so.
After helping Milwaukee win a championship years ago, the Bucks felt something was missing in their pursuit of more titles, and went after Damian Lillard. Lost in the mix was Jrue Holiday, shipped to Boston in the expanded deal. Nothing has been the same since for the Bucks, and not in a good way.
Lillard has struggled to mesh with the Bucks, after a trade that Dame didn’t seem to feel all that great about. His relationship with Giannis has been a friendly strain, the team underachieved, injuries mounted and the Bucks were a quick exit in the playoffs, again.
Boston, on the other hand, has thrived with the best record in the NBA. They have rolled in their playoff series so far, and are just one game away from another banner ceremony in Beantown. The final piece of the championship puzzle appears to be Jrue, who as a defensive stopper and a competent scorer, has given the Celtics that one thing…that missing link.
Holiday wanted to stay in Milwaukee–even stated that the day before he was traded. Too bad….he’s now making the Bucks realize how miserable that trade really was…at least for one team.
