FOND DU LAC, Wis. — A Fond du Lac man is convicted on one count of terrorist threats.
That charge against 75-year-old James Stearns was in connection with two emails he sent to a talk radio host and a member of the Wisconsin legislature following the Uvalde School shootings.
In the email to a talk radio host, Stearns threatened to buy “the most powerful (gun) I can purchase…to murder any lawmaker that voted in favor of a bill to arm teachers or school administrators.”
In the email to a legislator, Stearns said the lawmaker “would be a dead man in 60-days” if he helped pass bills to arm teachers and administrators. Stearns also said, in his words, “people will hunt you down and your family like animals.”
Stearns has no previous criminal record and received a seven-day jail sentence and a $500 fine.
