MADISON, WI — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services releases more details about three people from Northeast Wisconsin who’ve contracted West Nile Virus. Two died during hospitalization. D-H-S Epidemiologist Rebecca Osborne identified the ages and locations of the three patients.
Osborne says the patients are all in higher risk groups.
West Nile Virus is contracted via a mosquito bite and does not spread from person to person. To help avoid being bitten, health officials recommend applying insect repellent to exposed skin and clothing, wearing clothing that covers exposed skin, or treating clothing with permethrin before heading outdoors.
