OSHKOSH, Wis–The Oshkosh Common Council throws a wrench into the Oshkosh Area School District’s plan for the former site of Merrill Middle School. The Council votes four-three against zoning changes needed to put a running track at the site where the Merrill building now stands to be used by students at the new Vel Phillips Middle School.
Council member Paul Esslinger thinks the school should be preserved, and used for apartments……..
The Oshkosh School Board has voted a couple of times to tear down Merrill, and has no plans to sell it for potential development.
