FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Some tense moments Saturday night as residents of a Fond du Lac neighborhood shelter in place following a shooting that left one man injured.
Police were dispatched to the area of 1st Street and Adams Street around 8:04 p.m. for reports of shots fired.
Within minutes, a 48-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his left leg and arm. Lifesaving measures with the application of multiple tourniquets were started by an officer.
Other officers learned that a suspect in the shooting was seen running into the Parish Apartments on E. 2nd Street and set up a perimeter. SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation teams, armored vehicles, drones and K-9 units were deployed. Officers also obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s apartment.
The suspect, a 39-year-old man, turned himself in to a Fond du Lac police officer around 12:12 a.m. Sunday and is now in the Fond du Lac County Jail.
The shooting is under investigation. The victim’s name and condition have not been released. The suspect has not yet been identified.
