TOWN OF BUCHANAN, Wis. — A single-vehicle crash in a town of Buchanan construction zone seriously injures the driver and only occupant of the vehicle.
Town of Buchanan Fire and Rescue and the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to County Highway KK east of Harwood Road around 7:50 p.m. Friday. That was prompted by an automatic crash notification in which shallow breathing could be heard, though dispatchers did not get any response from the driver.
Fire and rescue crews had to extricate the driver from the vehicle. The driver was transported by a ground ambulance to a local hospital due to the unavailability of air ambulance services.
The victim’s condition has not been released.
Investigators determined the driver went past road closed barricades at high speed and collided with a large construction trailer. The crash is under investigation by the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office.
