APPLETON, Wis–The potential redevelopment of the Thrivent property is throwing a wrench into plans for Appleton’s newest elementary school. The Appleton Area School District is trying to set the attendance boundary area for the new Sandy Slope Elementary School, which opens next fall.
Superintendent Greg Hartjes says setting three sides of the boundary has been easy……………..
What is proving to be a challenge, is where to send the kids that could some day live in more than 2,000 units on the Thrivent property if it becomes a high-density housing site. Hartjes says including that area in the Sandy Slope attendance area would fill up that school quickly…………

Meanwhile, the school district will hold public listening session on the three proposed Sandy Slope attendance plans tonight (Wednesday) at Huntley Elementary from 6:30 to 7:30, and then again Thursday, November 21st at Ferber Elementary.
