MADISON, Wis. — It was a successful year for Wisconsin deer hunters.
More than 189,000 whitetails were registered during the nine-day gun hunt last week.
Deer program specialist Jeff Pritzl says that is up by five percent from the 2023 harvest……………….
Pritzl adds that the weather helped……………
It was also a safe hunt, as the DNR reports just one firearms-related injury.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the feet while sitting in a deer stand in Vernon County last Friday.
An investigation into that incident continues.
