APPLETON, Wis. — A new cookbook looks to honor the memory of a special person in our community and inspire sweet creations this holiday season.
Simply Sweet – Joy, Vitality, and Happiness in Every Bite! was recently released by the team at Nutritional Healing in Appleton.
This special dessert cookbook is a heartfelt tribute to Jenny Vanden Heuvel, who passed away in August of this year. Jenny and her husband Dave are friends and clients of Nutritional Healing’s owner, Kimberly Stoeger.
“One of the first things that I realized from her free consultation was her love of sweets, because it came up a lot, and there was specific snacks,” shared Kim. “And I thought, ‘Oh no, like this is not going to be part part of this.’ But throughout their program, they found ways to make them healthier, and that was a big part and an aha moment for for Jenny.”
Kim shared that prior to Jenny’s passing, they had sat down and dreamt up an idea to create a cookbook together.
“She could do like the graphic design, and I could put the content, and here’d be the direction we would go,” Kim added. “And obviously that was unfinished business, and it never happened.”
The Nutritional Healing team, led by Kim and her sister Kari, made it their mission to put the cookbook together. The Simply Sweet cookbook was formed, with each recipe offering a healthy, nontoxic, and sugar-free dessert option!
All proceeds will go to Jenny’s husband Dave and their three sons, keeping her legacy alive through love and support.
“This whole cookbook, it not only helps a family that has gone through so much, but it also helps the community achieve what I’ve always been set out to do with nutritional healing, is changing people’s lives from the inside out,” shared Kim. “And so there’s just a dual purpose to all of this, you know, we’re, you know, the ripple effect of being healthier, the ripple effect of helping a family.”
