FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The man charged in connection with a 2023 car crash into a Fond du Lac Verizon store is convicted on multiple charges in that case.
Benjamin Ayer pleaded no contest and was found guilty of eight counts, including intoxicated use of marijuana causing great bodily harm, second-degree reckless endangerment and operating while intoxicated causing injury.
According to the criminal complaint, Ayer admitted to inhaling compressed gas from an air duster at a restaurant just before driving onto Rolling Meadows Drive and losing control of the vehicle.
Several people were injured when the vehicle crashed through glass walls at a high rate of speed. That included one person who became pinned underneath the vehicle.
Ayer faces up to 52 years in prison when sentenced on Feb. 14.
