KIMBERLY, WI– The Fox Valley Metro Police Department says a day-long stand off in the area of Kimberly Avenue is now resolved. Officers took an armed person who barricaded themselves inside a building into custody. Officers including SWAT team members were called to the location just after 10:00 this morning to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon. One person was taken from the scene for treatment of stab wounds. Several streets were closed off as officers tried to make contact with the individual. Several surrounding streets were closed off–and the nearby Kimberly 4-K center, Mapleview Intermediate and Parkview Elementary schools were placed under soft lockdown as a precaution. According to Fox Valley Metro P.D.’s Facebook page, law enforcement will remain on scene for several hours as part of a continuing investigation. There will be no further information released at this time and people are being asked to stay away from the scene during the investigation.

KIMBERLY, Wis. –Police are involved in a standoff in Kimberly. Officers were called to the area of Kimberly Avenue around 10:00 this (Friday) morning on the report of a disturbance with a weapon.
One person was taken from the scene for medical treatment. Another person remains inside the building.
Several surrounding streets are closed off–and nearby schools have been placed under lockdown as a precaution.
“As of 11:00 am this morning, the 4K Center, Mapleview Intermediate, and Parkview entered a soft lockdown at the recommendation of the Metro Police Department due to an outside disturbance. All students are safe. At this time, the schools will continue with their regular schedule,” shared a statement from the Kimberly Area School District.
People are encouraged to stay away from the area.
