It’s that classic feeling of deja vu all over again, is it not?
I’ve been following along with the increasing cost of life across just about every single industry over the course of the last couple of years.
Needless to say, life’s been strange since Covid was introduced into our lives.
Plenty of rational reasons for price increases have popped up, including wage increases, supply chain issues, material shortages, etc.
I believe that Americans have the intestinal fortitude to push through these moments of hardship, and come out on the other end even stronger than how they went in.
But what happens when these price increases persist, or what’s worse, continue to go up?
That’s when we need politicians to step in and do the right thing to protect the average American consumer, especially in a more consolidated market.
You can scroll my articles back to January 2023 to a conversation I had with a researcher from the group Farm Action, highlighting that the biggest egg producers in the country were experiencing between 200-600% profit increases when compared to life before the pandemic.
2 years later, and we still are experiencing the same problem.
Thankfully, groups like Farm Action have stuck with this issue, and are even calling for the government to get involved and do what’s necessary.
I was joined by one of the founders of Farm Action, Joe Maxwell, to discuss how they have arrived at their conclusions surrounding egg producers, and what can be done to provide Americans with a bit of relief.
