LITTLE CHUTE, WI — Nearly 100 ducks found dead in Little Chute last month did not have bird flu.
The state Department of Natural Resources says the animals were tested for the disease, and all samples came back negative.
Investigators believe the cause of death was instead a “fungal infection.” Crews removed 95 dead mallards from the retention pond at County Highway OO and Buchanan Street on February 26th.
The carcasses were disposed of at a landfill.
