CALUMET & FOND DU LAC COUNTIES, WI — Area firefighters were kept busy over the weekend with wildfires spawned by a combination of high winds and dry vegetation.
Firefighters in Harrison battled high winds, dense vegetation and uneven terrain Friday to bring a marsh fire under control.
The fire was reported around 10:14 PM between County High N and Handel Road. Fire crews from Harrision and the Buchanan Fire Department were able to quickly establish control lines to divert flames from nearby neighborhoods.
The Harrison Fire Department continues to monitor the are and asks those living nearby to report any signs of the fire restarting. The wildfire scorched multiple acres.
A partially extinguished burn barrel kindles a marsh fire Saturday that burns almost five-acres in Fond du Lac County.
The fire on County Highway CCC in the Town of Marshfield was reported in a 911 call just before noon. The caller said a garbage bin fire that had been previous extinguished got out of control and was spreading quickly. 11 different fire departments responded to the fire.
There were no injuries.
