APPLETON, Wis. — A vehicle-motorized bike accident Saturday in downtown Appleton leaves one person seriously injured.
An Appleton police officer stopped a group of riders on motorized bikes on E. College Avenue at Appleton Street at 8:37 p.m. for riding recklessly.
About 15 minutes later, one of the riders fled on his bike and was struck by a passing vehicle. First responders took that rider to a local hospital for treatment.
The incident closed College Avenue between Appleton and Oneida streets for an extended period.
The crash remains under investigation.
