A state lawmaker’s attempt to dissolve the Lambeau Field Stadium District Board may end up in a legal fight with the stadium’s main tenant. A discussion of Representative Dave Steffen’s bill by the Green Bay Finance Committee this week featured an appearance from Packers’ spokesman Aaron Popkey–who stated the team is already working on a lawsuit for breach of contract. The Packers lease with the Stadium District includes a provision that specifically prohibits the reorganization or liquidation of the stadium district during the 30-year term. Under Steffen’s bill, control of Lambeau Field would be turned over the city of Green Bay itself.
