GREEN BAY, WI — A fire causes $30,000 damage to a Green Bay meat packing plant. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called to the JBS Food plant at 1330 Lime Kiln Road around 6:30 Tuesday evening.
A smoke plume was visible to the first fire crews arriving on the scene. Flames were already on the roof and smoke was inside the plant’s meat processing area. Green Bay fire crews were assisted by the Howard Fire Department. The fire was brought under control with 15-minutes.
It’s believed the fire was caused by heat from an auger used in the processing area. All employees were evacuated before fire crews arrived.
