STURGEON BAY, WI — It’s life in prison for a former Door County man convicted of killing his wife in 1975. 86-year-old Richard Pierce received that sentence after being found guilty in the death of Carol Jean Pierce. She disappeared shortly before Pierce moved to Cheboygan, Michigan, where he also started dating a new girlfriend. Carol Jean Pierce’s body has never been found, though police believe it was hidden in the Michigan residence until Pierce removed it. In addition to the life-term for First Degree Murder and Disinterment of the Dead, Pierce received an addition three-year prison term on the disinterment charge.
