OSHKOSH,WI — The Oshkosh Arena is sporting warnings about fire code violations and the Oshkosh Fire Department explains why.
In a written statement to WHBY News, the arena operators were informed July 18 those notices would be posted if corrections were not made by July 25. When arena operators failed to provide proof of compliance, the fire department posted the notices, and secured the building so that arena staff and visitors cannot enter the building.
In the statement, the Oshkosh Fire Department outlined the violations. Those include a fire panel that indicated three alarms needed repair, failure to provide service annually to the alarm system, which was last done in June 2021. Other violations included failure to annually service the Ansul extinguishing system, which has not be done since December 2022, and failure to have kitchen hoods professionally cleaned and inspected semi-annually. That was last done in September 2021.
The Oshkosh Arena has previously been cited for non-compliance of fire codes in October 2022 and February 2023.
