Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but the state of Wisconsin redistricting is in a bit of a state of flux. The partisan divide is strong in this state, and neither side of the political spectrum is willing to give an inch.
Whether it’s questions of authority, questions about process, or even the vague threat of impeachment, every angle is getting considered in this conversation.
Most recently, the Wisconsin Speaker of the House, Robin Vos, put together a panel of 3 former Justices to advise on topics including the impeachment of Justice Janet Protasiewicz. And up until earlier this week, the results of that panel had been kept private.
We now know what was said concerning the prospects of removing the recently elected justice, and it is the opinion of this show host that we are only here because of the actions of the group American Oversight.
They are a group that classifies themselves as “open records specialists” and have a number of lawsuits running through the system all over the country.
I was joined by the Executive Director of American Oversight, Heather Sawyer, and she broke down the specifics of this challenge, what information was learned as a result of the challenge, and what other lawsuits are currently active in other states.
