TOWNSHIP OF AUBURN, Wis. — One person is dead, four others are hurt and another person is arrested following a crash in Fond du Lac County.
The sheriff’s office says a vehicle left U.S. Highway 45 in the township of Auburn and rolled over several times around 1:10 a.m. Sunday.
The 19-year-old Hartford woman driving the vehicle was ejected, struck by another vehicle and dragged from the scene. She was found three miles away and pronounced dead.
Four passengers — a 17-year-old Iron Ridge boy, a 16-year-old Theresa girl, a 17-year-old from Milwaukee and a 21-year-old from Iron Ridge — were taken to hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
The 19-year-old West Bend man driving the other vehicle was arrested on suspicion of Hit and Run Causing Death.
Investigators believe everyone involved knew one another and they were traveling together. It is also believed that alcohol was a factor in the initial crash.
