APPLETON, WI — The Appleton Police Department announces the unexpected death of one of its K9 units. On Thursday, K-9 Faro was euthanized due to kidney failure. Faro came to the Appleton Police Department in 2021 and was partnered with Seargant Rohm. Faro was trained to detect various controlled substances, tracking, building clearing, and suspect apprehension. Throughout his service, he completed 297 total deployments, 247 being detection deployments, and 50 patrol deployments. A private memorial service for K-9 Faro is planned in the coming weeks, though the department says details are not being released.
