GREEN BAY, Wis. — Murder and hate crime charges are filed against a Green Bay Correctional Institution inmate accused of killing another prisoner.
Jackson Vogel is facing counts of First-Degree Intentional Homicide with a hate crime enhancer as a repeat offender.
Vogel allegedly strangled Micah Laureano in their cell at GBCI on Aug. 27. He reportedly told investigators he killed Laureano because he was Black and gay.
Vogel faces life in prison without parole if convicted. He will make his initial appearance on the charges on Sept. 13.
