We welcomed a very special guest during our Agriculture Hour with author and journalist, Corey Geiger.
Renowned storyteller, author, educator and historian, Jerry Apps joined Focus Fox Valley to reflect on his decades of impact in the state.
Here are a few “fun facts” about Jerry.
- He’s written more than 40 books!
- Jerry was born and raised on a central Wisconsin farm near Wild Rose and is a former county extension agent and professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Madison, where he taught for 30 years.
- He has created five documentaries with Wisconsin Public Television, has won several awards for his writing, and won a regional Emmy Award for the TV documentary A Farm Winter.
Jerry and Corey connected while Corey was writing his second book, “The Wisconsin Farm They Built: Tales of Family and Fortitude,” where Jerry has written the foreword.
During our time together, Jerry shared memories of harvest/preserving season and how women were the heart of the home. He also spoke to his polio diagnosis as a young boy which led to the roots of his writing.
